Round one: Scorching Scorton thrills a record crowd

Wow, what a season opener at Scorton Showground in the north west of England, for the first round of the 2025 BTPA championship series, sponsored by Mitas. Sun shone for the action-packed two-day event, which saw thousands of horsepower tear-up the track, through a wide variety of classes totalling around 60 BTPA-registered tractors. The event also welcomed invited pulling guests from Europe and the PPA.
Event promoter Craig Whittingham was delighted with the way the event ran, having put considerable time and effort into establishing this top-fight pulling venue over the last few years, which welcomed a crowd estimated at around 8,000 through the gates over the weekend - an increase of around 50 per cent over last year's event.
"This was our third year of hosting a BTPA championship points pull, and we're thrilled with the progress being made year-on-year," said Craig. "We've worked on banking to develop the view from both sides of the track; we've also improved facilities for pullers and spectators alike, and I believe we've set the scene for a venue that's worthy of hosting the best pullers in Europe. We'd like to thank everyone who helped and supported us, and we've already started planning our 2026 event."

Round two of the 2025 BTPA championship series, sponsored by Mitas, heads north, up into Scotland in just a few weeks' time, at BA Stores. Hosted by the Scottish Tractor Pullers Club (STPC), it combines the first round of the Scottish championships, alongside the BTPA championship series.
