2025 Champions celebrated at BTPA awards night

2nd Mar 2026

The BTPA has hosted its first ever awards night, presenting end-of-season trophies to celebrate the best of British championship tractor pulling from the 2025 season.

Held in conjunction with the BTPA’s AGM, trophies were presented by the 2025 season-long sponsor Mitas. The tyre firm’s Jon McLuckie was on-hand to meet the winners and hand out the silverware to the top three from each championship class.

Held at the Castle Green Hotel, Kendal, the evening proved a great success, with those attending able to enjoy a comprehensive buffet, music, dancing and general all-round banter throughout the evening.

The awards night followed the BTPA’s AGM, where attendees voted for two awards – those of Event of the Year and Puller of the Year. The former was collected by Paul Whittingham on behalf of the UK Truck and Tractor Pull held at Scorton, while Puller of the Year was awarded to Dan Whittingham, with the silverware collected on his behalf by brother, Craig Whittingham.

The Steve Beattie memorial trophy was awarded to Phil and Erin Johnstone for their roles with scrutineering, collating results, rpm box monitoring and just generally getting stuck-in at events whenever needed.

John Pye was awarded the Steve Mason memorial shield for his continued efforts throughout the season, including many midnight spannering sessions to get back on track the next day.

Hooker of the Year was presented to Duncan Clitheroe for his continued enthusiasm to get his truck puller, the Thirsty Turtle, on every available track. Did you know, the Thirsty Turtle got its name from a bar that is regularly frequented by Duncan and wife Pauline, when on holiday in Tenerife?

Best Turned Out Tractor was awarded to G-Force owned by Giles Moston, while the award for Best Turned Out Team went to the Aftermath Unleashed crew, run by the Whittingham family from Woodacre Park Farm, Scorton.

The Ford Performance trophy went to Blue Wicked owned by Jamie Humphrey, who also took top honours in the limited pro stock class, with a dominant championship win that saw him being virtually untouchable after five wins and a points tally of 135. Can Jamie repeat this success in 2026?

Many BTPA pullers attended the awards night to collect their championship trophies, and also to stand-in for those unable to make the evening celebrations. Those at the event to collect their championship winning awards included Wyn Thomas (Evil Dragon, pro stock), David Todd (Redemption, super farm), Stephen Charles (Brutus Thunderstruck, limited super stock and Brutus Thundertruck, super sport truck), Alex Rearie on behalf on Ryan Carnegie (Xtreme force, super sport), David Jones (Just Smoky, super stock) and Chris Knight on behalf of Jim Whitecross (Gator 2 Lynx Edition, light modified).
