A lifetime of pulling recognised

29th Aug 2025

Legendary super stock puller and BTPA president Peter Clarke (PC) was presented with a lifetime recognition award at the August '25 Great Eccleston event, for his outstanding contribution to the sport of tractor pulling.

In his 80th year, and showing no signs of hanging up his firesuit, PC was presented with the award on the floodlit track by fellow pullers David Jones and Ted Nicholson, and supported by BTPA chairman Joe Stevens.

In recognition of his 47+ years involvement with the sport, and his on-going role on the BTPA's board of directors, PC was accompanied on track by his infamous tractor Red Alert, accepting the award in front of an appreciative audience. Many of the pullers had travelled from Europe to compete at the event.

"It was a fitting moment to acknowledge everything that Peter has done so far - and also what he continues to do - for our sport," said David Jones. "What made this even more special was the fact that it was also a Eurocup super stock class, and the first time that many of his European super stock mates had returned to the event since 2019. It was a fantastic evening for them all to have a proper catch-up, particularly since Peter and his team stopped competing in Europe, after Covid."

Thanks to photographers Mark Jonathan Rouse and Olivia Jones, plus Phil Westwood of Green Square Brand Design for use of their images taken at the event.
