Owner-driver Rob Houghton from Rochdale, Lancashire, bought Hit n Miss in 2015, as a rolling chassis, without its engine. As a project, Rob says it needed a lot of work doing to it. An engine was found and assembled, using lots of standard and some non-standard parts – this included a selection of parts that came with the tractor. A new gearbox was fabricated to use a much larger input shaft and a three-plate clutch was also put together, to suit the new gearbox. While rob reckons the tractor is under-powered in its class, it does have the benefit of being very reliable.
